Fatal accident involves 2 pedestrians in New York

When people are walking along the street, they don’t expect to potentially lose their lives in a split second. However, when a pedestrian-vehicle accident happens, an individual can easily be killed instantly. Pedestrians are particularly at risk because they have no protection against a massive vehicle on the road. Also, in a busy city such as New York City, a car accident can be particularly harmful because the streets are congested, so multiple people can be impacted by a single mishap. If people are killed due to another person’s negligent or reckless driving, monetary damages from a wrongful death claim can help the fatal accident victims’ families to cope with the pain and suffering resulting from the fatal accident.

Two pedestrians recently died in New York after a 22-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle near an intersection. He then hit a phone booth and light post as well as two parked automobiles. The vehicle then went over a curb.

At that time, the 22-year-old’s vehicle struck the two individuals. One died at the scene of the accident, while the other died later at a hospital. The driver was speeding at the time of the accident and was arrested because he had a couple of outstanding warrants.

The family members of the pedestrians who were killed can sue the 22-year-old driver in order to seek reimbursement for any financial damages linked to the fatal accident. Drivers who strike pedestrians in these types of car accidents can be held liable if negligence or recklessness can be proved. After liability is established based on the civil court’s standards in New York, claims for monetary damages will be adjudicated in favor of the victims’ families.
