Vehicle hits, injures two pedestrians in New York

Car accidents between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian are often devastating. The size differences between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian are significant. Pedestrians have little chance of escaping such an accident unharmed. Very often, pedestrians suffer serious injuries in such accidents and these injuries often prove life-altering. Two pedestrians suffered injuries following a car accident in New York. According to reports, on a Saturday morning at tenth avenue and 34th street, a driver’s Dodge SUV hopped over a curb before hitting one of the pedestrians. Following this, the SUV then struck a pole, which fell onto the second pedestrian. The driver of the SUV then fled the scene. Reports say he is thought to be a man in his 30s.

One of the victims, a 44-year-old woman, was considered to be in critical condition following the crash. Another one of the victims, a 40-year-old man, was also in critical condition. His injuries were considered non life-threatening. Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital.

Following car accidents, victims often need to be transported to a hospital for treatment. Transportation can be expensive and these costs greatly increase when the mode of transportation is a medical helicopter. Victims are often unprepared to handle such costs.
