Bus becomes wedged at overpass near Manhattan bus station

A bus accident in Manhattan has called into question the reliability of the bus driver and the overall safety of the bus company.

The accident occurred at the Port Authority bus station in Manhattan, New York City after a double-decker Mega Bus became wedged under an overpass. Thankfully, most of the passengers on the bus were unhurt — one passenger suffered a minor injury in the accident. The crash is under investigation and the driver will certainly be subject to an extensive review of his or her driving credentials, as well as his or her state of mind at the time of the accident.

Bus accidents can be particularly messy affairs for everyone involved. When one occurs, the bus company will utilize its lawyers to try and mitigate liability as swiftly as possible. This doesn’t mean they won’t be held liable, mind you — but their quick steps to alleviate the situation could affect a victim’s ability to earn the compensation he or she deserves after being hurt in a bus accident.

This is why it is so crucial to consult an experienced personal injury attorney as soon as possible. Without legal aid, your rights could be infringed upon by the opportunistic bus company.

Another thing to remember about bus accidents is the driver. They will be investigated in the wake of any accident; and if they were intoxicated or distracted, they will be in a lot of trouble. In addition, their driving record will come under scrutiny; and if the driver has multiple negative incidents, their record can be used to substantiate your personal injury claims.
