Bicyclist suffers fatal injuries after crash in New York

Oftentimes, a hit-and-run accident is an admission of guilt. Most drivers will not flee the scene of an accident unless they know that they are likely going to be found at fault in the crash. For victims and their families, this can be incredibly frustrating. However, investigators and police officials are often able to track down the driver who fled the scene of the accident. When they are able to do so, victims and their families are sometimes able to pursue compensation from the at-fault driver.

A driver fled the scene of an accident that occurred recently on a New York street, according to police. The driver’s vehicle had hit a bicyclist on a Wednesday morning. Tragically, the bicyclist was killed as a result of the crash.

A witness saw the accident take place. After hearing a loud noise, the witness rushed outside and saw the 46-year-old bicyclist sprawled out on the street and bloody. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead after suffering severe head and body trauma.

Police were continuing to investigate the fatal accident. They were aware that the perpetrator’s car was a 2014 BMW, and that it hit a parked car before turning against traffic on a one-way street. The BMW then crashed into another vehicle and the driver then leaped out of his car and fled the scene. Victims in the other vehicle were also taken to a hospital and were said to be in stable condition.

If another driver’s negligent actions result in the death of a loved one, family members can be left emotionally devastated. In some cases, it may be appropriate to file a wrongful death lawsuit. A successful wrongful death lawsuit can help the family members of victims obtain compensation for the pain and suffering they have been forced to endure.
